Hello, my name is Angélica Rivera and I have the privilege to be one of the presidents of the Human Rights Commission in COSMUN. I am student of 10th grade in Fundación Educativa de Montelíbano and I like Social Studies all well as English class, my prefer hobbits are reading and hanging out with my friends. I want to be a support for all my delegates and accomplish my objective doing a good job.

Why MUN is important to me?

I have had the opportunity to be connected to this organization since first grade until today, and I’m so thankful to taking the decision to join this project because it has allowed me to grow as a person in every aspect, it has help me to create structured solutions that don’t involve violence but dialog, to respect people, to extend my vocabulary, in general it helps me to be a better person in the society and to help the people around me to be it to. However, this process doesn’t have an ending so every day I try to correct my mistakes and follow my goals without violating someone else rights, because after all we all are equals.

Why Human Rights commission is important?

Human Rights are the groups of basic rights and freedoms which every individual haves and they are really important because it allows that the community development and to avoid the inequality in the world. Now the importance of this commission is that is in charge of regulating the actions that attend to the violation of the human rights. The main interest of all the nations have to be the accomplishment of these universal rights, so they need to regulate the different types of violations through effective resolutions that helps to exterminate the problem and by intensive debates about the correct way to intervene in this problem.

Hi, my name is Laura Maria Fuentes, and I’m one of the presidents of the Human Rights commission. I’m 15 years old and I’m in tenth grade in the school Fundación Educativa de Montelíbano.

The Model of the United Nations is an excellent way for you delegates to develop the ability to make speeches, improve your communication, reading and research skills and awakes and interest in knowing the issues and problems that affects the countries, the societies and the world. The experience of participating in the MUN, created a new vision of the world for me and I was able to decide and judge by my own the decisions that the governments make and purpose different solutions for the conflicts in the globe. 

Human Rights, the commission I’m in charged, discuses the ways the human rights are violated and how can we protect them. I think this commission is vital in the ONU, because this shows the interest and concerning of the human kind for others, and is the way vulnerable people all around the earth is taken into account, denunciating how the communities are suffering the consequences of a selfish  world. This commission demonstrates that this people can still have hope and that they are not forgotten. With this commission we evidence the commitment and the fight of millions of people for dignity, respect and freedom.
